    KDE 4.1.4

It's not just a little frustrating, to have the announcement made that KDE 4.1.4 has been release - KDE 4.1.4 and 4.2 Release Candidate Available Now - and find that it hasn't been put into the repositories! I'm on my II KDE 4.1.3, and no Adept Notifier as to any package updates. Ran sudo apt-get dist-upgrade. Still no updated packages.

Developers: If you are going to announce that a package is "Available Now", please ensure that it is in the repositories.
Windows no longer obstructs my view.

twiddle, twiddle, oop! Looks like they're in the repos now.

      Re: KDE 4.1.4

Possibly because 4.1.4 was uploaded to the proposed repository (at least initially):
      http://www.kubuntu.org/news/kde-4.1.4

Also, if you use a local mirror of the repos, you should allow some time for the local mirror to update itself.

I'm just saying that if they're going to publicly announce that the KDE 4.1.4 update is available "today" then it should be in the standard repositories.

You don't seem to have the intrepid-proposed repository enabled?

Are you referring to the KDE announcement http://dot.kde.org/1231885724/ or the kubuntu announcement http://www.kubuntu.org/news/kde-4.1.4

On the kubuntu announcement there are instructions to enable 'proposed' to get KDE 4.1.4

Well that announcement is from the KDE not from the Kubuntu.

Ah. You are correct - I don't have the pre-release updates repository activated. Will doing so only affect KDE 4.1.x installed packages?

It's possible there are other 'proposed' packages in the repository as well, so you may wish to monitor what's being upgraded.

Thank you. I do understand, of course, that only installed packages (and or new dependencies of installed packages) would be affected.

                    Re: KDE 4.1.4

Ok well this isn't exactly related to the post other than it being kde 4.1.4, but I kind of figured that since a bunch of you seem to be testing it out it may be a logical place to start.
Any of you having troubles with the new release? (I know it's alpha/beta and it is likely to have problems). For me, Plasma seems to crash consistently. Attempting to alter the plasma desktop in any way (add, remove, move, etc.) crashes plasma in a nasty way. Tried a backtrace but get nothing, just says "no relevant backtrace information could be found (possibly corrupted trace or not compiled correctly to handle backtrace)", or something along those lines. Plasma usually recovers itself, but if it doesn't running it from term brings it back up. Also the plasma config menus for the plasmoids are not working.

                      Re: KDE 4.1.4

I was going to upgrade to kde 4.1.4 today but when
I reloaded packages with synaptic and adept they
didn't show up. I have 'deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-members-kde4/ubuntu intrepid main'
and backports enabled. I do not have the Kubuntu desktop
package installed because it was uninstalled when I installed
                      wicd.

                      Any info would be appreciated.

                      Thanks

Ensure that you have the "pre-release updates" repository marked in Adept Manager.

As far as I can determine this upgrade to
4.1.4 just worked. This is the first upgrade
of this size since moving to kde4 that has
just worked. What a relief. I'll actually be
able to use this computer in the morning!!

Thanks to all those folks who have helped
me over the last few months.

And a kernel update at the same time!!!!
