Hi everyone,
I am using the latest drivers for my GFX card, and run 2 x 24 inch Dell LCD's native res is 1900x1200 per monitor with a home built system using EVGA MOBO, EVGA Video Card.
So the quick question is why no matter what I do to speed up these Linux desktops, Gnome, KDE, reduction in effects, etc can't I achieve the same crisp look that I have on the same hardware using XP SP3.
For instance taking a browser like Firefox and dragging it around the desktop if I use Gnome, KDE, Xrender, OpenGL, pretty much every choice seems to lag when compared to XP, when I do tests my FPS on all the Linux choices are very high, I have tried pretty much every v-sync option performance setting, its a feel thing it feels slower, and actually starts to bother my eyes.
Only thing that seems different is that under the Nvidia X server I see that it's running at 59.9 or 8 MHrtz instead of 60, I am figuring that this display number is more acurate then the windows version and is showing the precise setting.
When I chose to ScreenRes options I am only offered the 50 Mhrtz choice, I pretty much read every line of the X configuration manual and tried many options.
Could be that I am running twin view at 3800x1200 and that the hardware acceleration even though its setup up the same as XP on the right monitor is attempting to hardware accelerate the entire desktop regardless of the settings and this is causing the slight change.
I think I have tried every option I can find, every desktop, just wondering if Direct X has a more direct route the hardware layer then the Linux OpenGL or X-Render version of the driver, could be the way the windows are rendered on Gnome, and KDE, I am just out of ideas, any news ones would be very welcome.
Thanks!

Little side note KDE beta and Blender dont work well together what ever you do back up your settings before launching it, I had 2 hard resets just attempting to open a file, running under Gnome works fine so if I need to use that is the work around.
