Re: is it there any Mac-like dock like this

      I was reading this FAQ:

Q: Why does AWN depend on so much of Gnome? I'm a kde/xfce/other user who doesn't want to be burdened by all that ****
A: The original developer chose to build on top of Gnome because it was what he was familiar with and could develop the fastest. However, there has been a lot of work poured into making a desktop-agnostic version of AWN that eliminates most of these dependencies. You will need to compile AWN from source to enable agnostic.

So, it looks it's a maze.
Was someone able to install it ? I wonder if it's "easy" or "very difficult"

      Thanks

ok if you have to build ur own copy it shouldn't be all to hard..
first off your gonna need the build-essencials (search for it in your package manager)

ok now after you have the packages it will install you continue as described on the tutorial,
the only diffrence is instead of installing it via apt-get (or package manager) you will download the source code (do this after you install ne other stuff you will need)

extract the source code for it, then open the terminal (konsole for kde)
cd to the directory where the source code is and do the following
        ./configure
        make install
(you might need sudo for the make install)

there you have it very basic build instructions, if you run in to errors let me know i will help u,by building the package(s) myself a posting more indepth instructions

Before you go building your own i was able to find it in the hardy partner repo
make sure you have it enabled (from adept manager: FILE->manage repositorys -> 3rd party tab)

          then search for avant

[update] after installing i can run awn-manager to set it up. as for avant-window-manager i get a crash, but it could just be my system. let me know how it goes for you

Ok I installed it through repositories, and am able to run awn-manager. 2 Questions:

            1) once I end awn-manager, how can avant ?
            2) should it awm-manager appear under some menu ?

            Ciao!
