I tried using the Super Karamba widgets but I ended up removing it because very few of them seemed to work properly. I also found that removing them and rebooting resulted in them popping up again. What am I doing wrong, if anything?

I just updated with kernel version 2.6.24.21 and the latest KDE core updates and it seems to be working much better.
