how to get rid of noatun?

    Hi,

the title says it all. A
    Code:
    sudo apt-get remove noatun
    wants to get rid of:
kscd kdemultimedia-kappfinder-data mpeglib juk libarts1-mpeglib kaboodle libarts1-audiofile kappfinder libarts1-xine kaudiocreator kmid kdemultimedia noatun

Well, I quite like my kaudiocreator, but the rest can go. Thing is, I don't know about the libraries - will it break anything?

    Any knowledge out there?

i too removed noatun, kscd, juk, ... a long time ago
can't remember whether or not i had to fix anything afterwards.
    unlikely.
though, in case of troubles, you can issue:
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install --fix-broken
btw, why don't you use k3b for ripping?
it's a lot faster than kaudiocreator, it's more flexible and does the burning, too...

k3b for ripping? Interesting. Never thought of it 'cos I don't burn, just dump the music on my disk for later enjoyment

Right, will remove that junk now... - thanks for the nudge.

        Something is wrong ! ?

Here, if i try to remove noatun:
        kdeaddons will be removed
        noatun will be removed
        noatun-plugins will be removed
Are you using ppa repositories ?
        Before you edit, BACKUP !

          yeah.
that remove command wants to remove a little too much.
should be easy to fix things in case of troubles...

It actually said it was going to remove kdemultimedia and noatun. The other packages were to be "autoremoved".

And what are ppa repos? Here is my /etc/apt/sources.list:

                Doh!

                Cheers

In any case, I did it, just rebooted and music and stuff is still there. Those libraries were obviously not needed by anything serious - phew!

                  yeah.
you need to be careful, though.
adding repositories with possibly conflicting versions of software, i mean.
you want to avoid ending up in dependency hell.
                  take care.

Hey, I started with an rpm based distro - I know all about dependency hell :P
