KDE4.1 Disappearing plasmoids :(

So, I have problems with disappearing plasmoids.
Whenever I restart X or reboot, they have been cleared.
I have now nothing on my screen, except background.

I installed some packages with additional plasmoids:
kdebase-plasma-kde4
extragear-plasma
kdeplasmoids

With these, I got folderview and others to work, system tray and task manager still bug.

Does anyone know a solution?

This was happening to me as well, with the neon "nightly" builds, presumably because plasma would crash every time i logged out, but I am happy to say that with the update last night and today, that problem has been fixed, so perhaps it will hit your beta 2/3 packages soon. Good luck!

I was already thinking that maybe the devs didn't think that we'd perhaps like to save our plasmoids ^^

@Ojm: AFIK kdebase-plasma replaces extragear-plasma

So, this might at the root of your problem.
If you have both installed (don't know how you managed that ) they may interfere with each other.

Hmm... it seems that I don't have both?
If I try to install other, it removes the other.

So, which do you have installed?
An which version of kde4 are you using?
There are so many one can get confused.

GG with kde4.0.5 installed next to kde3.5.x
GG with kde4.0.5 installed "next" to kde3..5.x upgraded to kde4.1 beta2
HH KDE4 remix (4.0.5)
HH KDE4 remix upgraded to KDE4.1 beta2
HH with kde4.05 installed "next" to kde3.5.9
HH with kde4.0.5 installed "next" to kde3.5.9 upgraded to kde4.1 beta2

Okay, I haven't had that issue since upgrading to beta2. I think the beta2 doesn't like the "older" .kde4 folder.
So I would suggest deleting /home/yourusername/.kde4 folder from recovery mode and relogging into yourusername.
Your desktop will be rebuilt and you will have reconfigure it to your liking but it will be clean this time.

Helped halfway trough or something :S

Now I have the panel which I don't want with some plasmoids and a desktop folderview everytime I log in. Everything else disappears.

Hmmm... I cannot reporduce that.
The only issue I have with plasmoids is the post-it widget always shrinks to a minimal size at login.

I don't know why you would want to trash the panel but he to each their own

What kind of setup do you have?
Maybe I should reinstall or something?
I love these plasmoidthingies but they are worth nothing if they don't save :S

I had the same thing, caused by plasma crashing on logout. I 'fixed' it by turning off desktop effects in kwin which stopped plasma crashing. My prefernces got saved, and now I have effects turned back on. Plasma still crashes on logout, but it has already remembered my prefs so no big deal.
