    No Device Icons

I've had this problem off and on since KDE 3.5.
    In System Settings,Desktop, and Behavior.Then,
I select the Device Icons that I want to use.
This should allow me to quickly access all the files on
partitions other than the root partition. The problem is
that after I click on Apply and close System Settings
    and I re-open System Settings,
the boxes that I checked are unchecked.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    Re: No Device Icons

These must be controlled in the Home directory.
Because, when I reinstalled Kubuntu 7.04 and I opened
System Settings; the box for Mounted Hard drive
was still not checked. The icons for the partitions
in my Kubuntu 7.04 installation are on the Desktop, however.

      What if you go to:

KControl -> Desktop -> Behavior -> Device Icons

Make sure everything you want is checked.

If you will check my first posting about this
problem; you will notice that I have already tried
in Kubuntu "System Settings" to do what you suggested
