    tried it

So in an effort to get web sound working I downloaded hardy beta.

The first thing is that is appears to be kde4 but I though by default hardy should have 3.5.9.

I installed firefox and flahplugin during a live session but it wouldn't open from konsole and wasn't added to the start menu. I've used other live cds and used firefox after installing.

Still no sound from the web, and firefox 3 wouldn't let me install foxmarks which is necessary for me right now.

I just want something that works, I simply need web sound and mp3 playback or the wife is going to go buy a copy of m$.

not sure what you mean by web sound, but i know you can get mp3 playback by downloading codecs from various places online. just do a search on the forum here for enable mp3 playback and see what you get.

I think there are two versions of Hardy. One with KDE 3 and one with KDE 4. You probably just got the wrong version.

      Re: tried it

I've been trying for weeks to get sound from web such as youtube plays video but no sound, I did get mp3 playback working the other day, I had everything working w/ k gutsy a while ago, and decided to try mint kde. I've been through about 6 distros since and even reinstalling the original k gutsy I can't get sound working right.

well, websites that should have sound don't have any sound, www is completely silent and has been for weeks, I've been searching and trying everything I can find, the crazy thing is I never even heard of medibuntu until a few days ago, so I know i never had to use it before.

            Re: tried it

flashplayer uses alsa by default nowadays so access to soundcard shouldn't be blocked by another alsa application anymore

            Are you using kde4?

actually I'm back to xubuntu for this machine, I am going to see if I can plug the headphones into the onboard. If it works I'll just buy some cheap speakers for this one.
