I have a strange problem when using RANDR and kde4. I have a laptop connected to a widescreen external LCD. The LCD max resolution is 1680x1050, my laptop is 1920x1200. I want to set the resolution to 1680x1050 using RANDR. My video card is an ATI Radeon Mobility 9700, I'm using fglrx 8.452.1. In KDE 3.5.8 the krandrtray works great to change the resolution, no problems. When I login using KDE4 and attempt to use the KDE4 krandrtray, it ignores my request. I opened 'konsole' and tried 'xrandr --size 1680x1050', nothing happens. I did not see any messages in /var/log/Xorg.0.log, /var/log/syslog nor dmesg.
Are there any ideas what may be happening?
