Speeding up KWin4, KDE4, with Compositing.

Currently I'm running Kubuntu 7.10, Gutsy.

I've seen several videos where people have compositing screaming. Now, since I have a Geforce 6800, 128mb card, I don't think it should be stuttering with a single window open.

Basically, I'm not getting ANY hardware accelerated compositing, out of KWin.

Compiz-Fusions screams.

Also, several times when I've tried to enable the Desktop Effects, I've gotten the NVidia black screen bug.

You can try switching from opengl to xrender, or vice versa, people get mixed results with either one

also read this thread from dot.kde.org, specifically the edit to /etc/profile.

KWin is still a baby, so there will be things to fix, just like compiz was.
