Ugly GTK fonts

I'm using gtk-theme-switch to make Audacity and XMMS look better. The style setting works fine. If I chose metal, for instance, XMMS settings window does show a metal widget, as wel as Audacity's menus. The ploblem is the font. No matter what font I chose in gtk-theme-switch, XMMS and Audacity always show an ugly big font.
Does anybody know what's wrong with this gtk-theme-switch (it works fine in my Debian Sid and also in Etch), or how to set those fonts in a different way?

What's gtk-theme-switch? Are you referring to GTK Styles and Fonts (System Settings > Appearances)?

I think that there are some GTK-based apps that really don't use/follow the rules set under that KControl module, like Audacity and XMMS. Some, like the GIMP, Synaptic, and the latest version of Inkscape (not the one in the repositories) do follow. I think the problem lies more in app. But I'm not totally sure, since you say that it works in Debian.

It seems that "GTK Styles and Fonts" in KControl change the look of apps that use GTK2 libraries. XMMS and Audacity seem to use GTK1 libraries. So there's this little utility called gtk-theme-switch (http://www.muhri.net/nav.php3?node=gts) that should take care of the latter, but strangely isn't in Dapper.

I'm not familiar with that program. But it's included in Ubuntu's repositories:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/dapper/x11/gtk-theme-switch

It's in universe, so make sure that the universe repos are enabled/present.

Actually, I have already installed it via synaptics, and it's working fine for the widgets, but not for the fonts.
