I should post this in the Pendrivelinux forum but there is no such thing.
I tried many times to install USB Ubuntu without success, first it boots up on my Thinkpad R40 but not every time, I must remove the flash drive and plug in and power cycle to reboot, otherwise it will go to network boot. But the main concern is not the boot up but the network setting and user data save back.
The network setting in a hard disk install not always work, I setup a profile and saved to disk, I activate it but I can't connect, seems like a firewall is blocking the access but there is none in my network, I've to delete and re-create the profile few times to make it work hopefully, this also happen on Xubuntu, but KDE works just fine in first install. I created user in the portable boot but it won't save, every time it boots up in live session no user to switch, if it can't do this simple thing it is useless to me. I hate to compare but Puppy is the only working portable solution to me, I am giving up Gnome.....
