I think I can code, I think I can code, said the little coder that could. Good advice.

PS: I first learned about Python in 2003 which was about the same time that Microsoft purchased Visual FoxPro and then almost immediately buried it, in an attempt to force the 250,000 VFP developers to switch to .NET. Deciding to leave M$'s locked garden I vowed never to use Visual Basic or any other M$ GUI IDE tool set again. I began casting about for another GUI IDE and found Boa-Constructor, which used Python. It was a GUI + DB environment and the widget set was not very extensive in properties and methods. IOW, it was very crude when compared to VFP6.

I gave up on Python and Boa-Constructor (development of which ceased in 2006) and continued looking. In the spring of 2004 I found Qt (pronounced "cute") from Trolltech. It has even MORE properties and methods than VFP had, and it was object oriented as well, i.e., inheritance and polymorphism. I settled on Qt4 and used it until I retired in 2008. The developer who replaced me continued using it and the Qt App I developed in 2008 is still being used 15 years later, although its been updated as the version of Qt increased.

It wasn't until the "Python Programmer" mentioned Anaconda in the fall of last year that I decided to look at Python again, for personal coding projects, and Anaconda as well. What a pleasant surprise! If you look at my "conda list" in a previous post in this thread you'll notice that qt, postgresql, tk, and a host of other GUI RAD tools are available, along with a host of libraries like panda, numpy and others for manipulating databases and math in Python code.

      I'm blown away by Anaconda3.

I always wondered why Qt is pronounced "cute", as "cutie" would have been even cuter...
