I'm not sure who you're asking this, I imagine it's not me, but IMO the only reasonable way to check out daily builds frequently is using an iso boot, no installation drive required, unless you intend to test specifically the boot from "installation disk". Even using a USB an iso boot is simpler and quicker.

I was wanting to know what procedure was being used by Radcliff.

On my system an iso file is not recognized as a viable boot option. I totally rely on Startup Disk Creator which converts the iso file into a bootable usb. Even though it does take a little time, I always find something to do while this process is happening. At least the end result gives a bootable device on my Laptop.

Jlittle means directly booting an iso file located on a drive, via grub. No USB, no special tools (other than text editing to set up grub)

Heck, if one set this up, and used zsync to keep the hirsute-desktop-amd64.iso file up to date, you would never have to create a boot disk at all, seems an easy thing to script (the zsync part), the rest is already set up, after the first go.

I thought I'd test 'Happy-Inspection-of-Hippo-Kubuntu-21-04' from today's build but would not even boot from a live USB drive to a usable desktop, stuck after the integrity test with centred 'Kubuntu' logo. I can 'CTRL-ALT-F2' into a login screen tho.

The ISO is not stalling on the real desktop. It is stopping at the try/install screen, where you get only the wallpaper as ubiquity (which does the try/install) is not starting.

You can easily boot to the desktop by removing the 'maybe-ubiquity' command from the boot command in the grub edit menu.

It is good to see that you are giving guidance to those who are trying to see how good 21.04 is. As I have had it usable for some time now, I had an interesting change of events yesterday.

When doing projections on my HP Laptop, which has a HDMI output, I use a dongle so that I can connect to VGA. That works fine until the output us used for streaming to the internet. When this happens, any video is shifted down and the bottom is chopped off. I took my Sacrificial Laptop which has a VGA socket and that worked fine. So I will be using my 21.04 system for projection!

I have one annoying problem at the moment. On both systems, my internet connection in the system tray is missing. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO REINSTATE THIS?
This problem was solved by install plasma-nm.

I normally use an Ethernet connection with Hippo and I always thought that the WiFi connection was valid since it was showing a connection with all the correct addresses.

However, I needed to use WiFi when my Wife and I wanted to wanted to watch a video on our TV screen. This failed and we had to resort to using an Apple iPad.

This problem also existed on my wounded HP Laptop. It is suffering from an expanded battery which popped one of the screws in the base plate.

So, for any of the brave souls who are testing Hippo and find WiFi not working, my solution was to install reaver. The package details are:

Reaver performs a brute force attack against an access point's WiFi Protected 
Setup pin number. Once the WPS pin is found, the WPA PSK can be 
recovered and alternately the AP's wireless settings can be reconfigured.

So all is now working and I continue, out of necessity, to use it all the time now and I find it amazingly reliable and a pleasure to use.

produces the Kubuntu 21.04 desktop. Ubiquity needs additional packages for it to work if you want to install and try it out.

I certainly hope you give it a go and that, like me, you find it to be very reliable.

Not for me. Downloaded today's iso (11/12/2020) and had to edit the menu entry again.
EDIT: Maybe it's my AMD graphics card (RX470) again.

I have just tried the 11/12/2020 and it eventually gave the desktop. I also have an AMD graphics card. I do find that after I select the "Try Kubuntu" option, the Kubuntu words appear in the centre of the screen and one has to wait for a month of Sundays before it advances to give the option to proceed to the desktop.

I, for example had Lunch, and then worked on another computer to setup Christmas addresses in Thunderbird for our email greetings. I then remembered that I had the usb stick with the Kubuntu screen on my other Laptop and found that it had advanced to the next screen.

So be prepared to wait a long time before anything happens - even advancing to the Desktop which is not particularly fast either!

For the past several days, same result. No boot unless I remove 'maybe-ubiquity' boot option, then boots but install fails.

Tried today's download (15/12/2020) and no change. Waited 10 minutes and screen saver activated, but no desktop. On the other hand my Lubuntu 21.04 install is working well.

When I tested the iso, I had the screen going blank several times and I just pressed the shift key to get the screen back to see the Kubuntu graphic in the centre of the screen again. I suspect it took over an hour to advance from that screen to the graphic screen with the question to advance.

I hope this approach solves the problem for those who want to try it out.
