    Cars and distro

Note: This is not meant to be serious. This is the Water Cooler. I use "period" cars because I'm old. And European... so apart from the Lincoln...

Ubuntu is the Lincoln Continental of distros.
Mint is the Volkswagen Golf (Rabbit).
    Opensuse is the Audi Quattro.
    Arch is the VW van.
Kali is the Aston Martin DB5 (with full James Bond optionals ;·)
    Lubuntu is the Fiat 500.
Kubuntu is a cross between the E-type Jag, the Citroën DS 21, and the Porsche 911.
Neon is much the same, except maybe the DS 21 i.e. (injection électronique) which has its pros and cons.

Just my take on distros I actually know, please add you own distros/opinions/regional/period settings

    Ubuntu is an Audi a3
    Kubuntu is a VW jetta
Mint is a Seat, maybe Lubuntu a Škoda
(or substitute different GM cars here. Same car, different looks and feature sets)

Arch is a high end kit car
Manjaro is the same kit car, but already assembled

kali is a military humvee , but only used to drive a block or two, in new York City, to pick up groceries.

I dunno, Suse is Ford, maybe. Little variety but solid
Fedora is Chrysler/Dodge (but NOT Jeep!) over there doing their own thing.

Yeah, the analogies start to get harder, and fall apart lol

Same car different body (more or less). Pretty logical really.

Plus a Jetta is much easier to customize. Body kits and the like.

              Oh well.
Actually, I was going to use the Hummer for Kali :·) but then, I was doing period cars...

Still, what I mean, this is a DS 21 (mine :·)

kali is a distro with 1k features that people seem to want to use in ways it was not intended to be - ie being installed as a normal every day OS, for example

And really, the kernel is basically an LS engine.
Or a bit more accurate (and less fancy) it is like the 139qmb engines found in 90% of the 49cc scooters out there. Pretty much an open design engine/CVT used in things from scooters to ATVs
I have one that gets over 90 miles/gallon (2.6L/100km), and another that goes 80km/hr but 60mpg

But as usual stray a tiny bit, and the analogies break down. Particularly car analogies. Probably sports ones, too.

Well then, my analogy to the Aston Martin DB5 (with full James Bond optionals) wasn't too bad was it.

Indeed, but the cars I cited (for KDE) were not about the engine/(kernel), they were about style and performance. :·)

no since Bond uses it for the purposes it was designed for

                      well, maybe it could be

One of my favourite scenes in Skyfall (3 mins). The last even vaguely funny Bond film.

"Oh go on then. Eject me. See if I care" :·)

Try the video tag instead of the youtube one(in the advanced editor), if that is what you used.

                          [VIDEO https://www. youtube. com /watch?v=_hi23ZopR48 /VIDEO]
it seems to parse the urs for it better, or the YT one is just borked maybe,
Anyway, if you edit the post, you see thatg it changes the tag code to look like this
                          [video=youtube;_hi23ZopR48 htt ps://www/ .youtube. com/watch?v=_hi23ZopR48 /video]

I do hope for a bit of humor in Bond films, despite liking Craig it has been a bit bleak lately.
