    Another option: https://yippy.com/

    From https://vpnpro.com/web/yippy-search-engine/:
Yippy isn’t primarily a mass-market Google search alternative. It’s not the kind of tool you can turn to every morning to seek out the latest news. Instead, Yippy is pitched at businesses who have internal and specific data processing requirements.

However, there is freely available front end for all of us to try. And it’s a pretty effective private search engine. Users can type in whatever they need to look for, and the engine delivers a list of clean, more or less relevant results.

I HAVE POSTED ABOUT THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN KUBUNTU BEING UBUNTU WITH KDE ON IT SEVERAL TIMES AND SAID THAT I THOUGHT THAT THERE WAS "SOME KIND OF TWEAKS" THAT MADE KUBUNTU DIFFERENT AND WAS ALWAYS LAUGHED AT.

BUT I WILL OFFER A TEST... GET AN EXTRA HARD DRIVE OR PARTITION OR WHATEVER AND INSTALL UBUNTU AND THEN, FROM SYNAPTIC, ADD KDE TO IT AS A DESKTOP AND TRY IT, THERE REALLY IS A VISUAL DIFFERENCE, IN TERMS OF THINGS, TO ME BEING "HARSHER" AND "MORE EDGE" VISUALLY, JUST SAYIN'

Honestly, I look for solutions to the problems I got, about half the time, they don't apply.
They either point to files/directories/utilities/gnomes/pixies/leprechauns that either don't exist on, or are not applicable to, my system, or... they explain in excruciating detail procedures that are simply not available on KDE-based systems.

YES THERE ARE DIFFERENCES IN THE FILE STRUCTURE AS THERE ARE DIFFERENCES IN THE SETTINGS MENUS.

Never had that? Maybe most of my problems are KDE-related. Or I'm not wily enough... even though I try

Still, I honestly wonder why most people would prefer Gnome over KDE... but that's me.

      A) THE FIRST FEW YEARS THAT I WAS IN LINUX I TRIED THEM ALL AND A) DID NOT LIKE rpm, DO NOT KNOW WHY BECAUSE i WAS NOT "IMPRINTED" ON .deb, REALLY i DO NOT KNOW WHY
      B) THE ORIGINAL APPLE OPERATING SYSTEM FOR MAC USE "PRESS THE BUTTON DRAG THE MOUSE AROUND AND HOVER AND RELEASE" TO GET SOMETHING TO OPEN WHILE MS USES DOUBLE CLICK.
WHY WOULD THE APPLE PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT MS USEAGE? BUT THERE WERE POSITIVELY FLAME WARS BACK A COUPLE OF DECADES AGO ABOUT THIS

AND i QUICKLY REMEMBERED SOMETHING MY GRANDFATHER USED TO SAY: "PEOPLE PREFER THE DOG THAT BIT ' EM".

GNOME IS VERY MUCH LIKE ms IN IT'S APPEARANCE ON THE MENU , AS ARE OTHER DISTROS MENUS BUT ALSO IN A LOT OF OTHER THINGS AND IT

DOES NOT HAVE THE PLASMA DESKTOP AND "ACTIVITIES" AND SUCH...

THE TALKING HEADS FOR A DECADE HAVE BADMOUTHED KDE AS "BEING HARD TO LEARN" AND "TOO COMPLEX", AND GUESS WHAT... THEY OPENLY ADMIT THAT THEY USE GNOME... or windblows!...

SO, I REALLY do THINK THAT THE PEOPLE WHO USE KDE ARE THE PEOPLE WHO REALLY are...LOOKING FOR A DIFFERENT PARADIGM AND WILL INVEST A RELATIVELY SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME TO FIND A DISTRO WHICH REALLY IS...

A ) DEFAULT PRETTY, I MEAN... OTHER DISTROS REALLY DO JUMP THROUGH HOOPS TO BE EDGY AND SOME OF THE DESKTOPS ARE, TO ME, JUST ugly, BUT THE PERSON MAKING THE DISTRO LOVES IT AND THE IT ATTRACTS OTHERS WHO LOVE IT BUT JUST ABOUT ANY REVIEWER SAYS THAT KDE SHIPS STOCK WITH A PRETTY DESKTOP.
      B) ACTIVITIES REALLY DO ENHANCE WORK FLOW WHEN THEY ARE SET UP PROPERLY BUT DOING THAT WAS PREVIOUSLY A PAIN IN THE a$s# THAT HAS NOW BEEN SOMEWHAT STREAMLINED AND THE PRIME EXAMPLE IS THE NAVIGATION FROM ONE ACTIVITY TO ANOTHER.
ONE ACTUALLY HAS TO SETUP THE MOUSE CLICK OR THE WHEEL SCROLL OR THE KEYSTROKES after adding the second activity... ONE CAN'T JUST ADD AN ACTIVITY AND HAVE THE METHOD TO NAVIGATE THERE AUTOMAGICALLY

AND I DO NOT KNOW, BECAUSE I HAVE BEGGED TO HAVE IT DONE...WHY...WHY...THERE CANNOT BE A SIMPLE HOW TO ABOUT THIS ON THE DESKTOP IN A FOLDER WHEN THE PERSON FIRST OPENS A KDE BASED DISTRO AND ESPECIALLY KUBUNTU OR NEON...

IT IS JUST BEYOND ME THAT THIS ONE GREAT IMPEDIMENT HAS NEVER BEEN PROPERLY ADDRESSED IT COULD BE DONE, I'VE VOLUNTEERED TO DO IT AND WAS ALWAYS IGNORED...I MEAN REALLY, IGNORED...I WOULD VOLUNTEER AND GOT NO REPLY...

SO YEAH... I FELL IN LOVE WITH KDE THE FIRST TIME I RAN ACROSS IT...IT WAS INTUITIVELY SIMPLE EXCEPT FOR THE ADDITION OF ACTIVITIES AND THE SETTING UP OF HOW TO NAVIGATE BETWEEN.

AND EVEN THAT IS NOW SOMEWHAT SIMPLIFIED.

YOU HAVE PUT UP A GREAT THREAD!

So yeah, i hope that i didn't bore folks too much with the long quote up there!

Put speech marks around the word "kubuntu" when you enter your search
