Hope this is the right sub forum for an intro post.
I've been with Linux full time since 2015, before that, I started tinkering with it in 2010, so probably still a newbie all the way around compared with some.
Did the typical "distro hopping" for awhile. When I first started using Linux full time, I was using the standard Fedora release. Held onto that til it was almost EOL. Then it was going back and forth between distros. Ubuntu, Ubuntu Studio, SparkyLinux GameOver, Kubuntu, KDE-Neon, Manjaro, Mint, Zorin (as you can see a lot of Ubuntu based distros).
KDE is by far my favorite DE. I liked Ubuntu based versions just due to, in my experience, ease of install and post-install use. Just able to get going with little effort. Especially getting the Nvidia driver installed and working as I needed that over the default Nouveau driver for the 3 monitor setup.
My main use is for design work. I'm mainly an embroidery digitizer, but I do other type of apparel design work as well. Also do 2D animation (traditional frame by frame and IK based) and 3D printing, so my workflow is mainly as an artist (no coder here, about as much coding that I've done is BASH scripts, if one considers that coding).
My main office rig is a Lenovo Thinkstation with a Xeon E5 CPU, 32GB of ECC RAM, 3 monitor setup (2 Viewsonic 27" and a 27 Wacom Cintiq QHD monitor) running Kubuntu 18.04.
I think that's it in a nutshell. Glad to be here and looking forward to learning from everyone.
