Realtime Ray Tracing and Linux Wine Windows

I ran across a VERY interesting article about "real time ray tracing" which, essentially, replaces dozens of people working on dozens of computers to make CGI for films and games.

Here is a really amazing demo article on it with a video it references using Windows 10 (tm). Please watch it for the video if nothing else. It uses the Unreal Engine . however don't give up with just watching the great video Linux is the next link.

apparently it uses what is called Vulkan and Nvidia is, seemingly, going to fully support Linux or... it may be more easily done under WINE.

I have mentioned that a former student of mine wanted to be an independent film maker and took all the computer applications and etc. programming he could here and went to California and decided that the lifestyle didn't fit and he is now a pogrammer for a major bank.

But I was visiting about this with him and what he said was rather astounding.

This really IS a situation where a young person, or old, who is an autodidact really can, with a bunch of people to be actors and the wherewithal for sets and costumes can compete with the big folks.

Or someone who can make the "basic game" can compete with the big folks.
