major article on open source no mention of canonical ubuntu

    Hi
I was going to post this article but then saw the article on AGL which kind of, if one has read THIS article reflects the "outlook" in the AGL article.

This is a VERY INTERESTING article about "how open source software took over the world" it really is...

BUT, what I found rather astounding...is the term "open source" was used LIBERALLY...there is frequent use of RED HAT and MYSQL and a few other things...

There is ONE use of the word "Linux"

and ...there is a vague reference to "distribution"...

NOT ONE USE of the words Canonical or Ubuntu...

    https://techcrunch.com/2019/01/12/ho...ver-the-world/

it is as if there IS NO SOFTWARE that is "open source" except "Red Hat" and MySQl...and some kind of ...vague "open source" DISTRUBUTION that coders are typing on their keyboards to produce..

It MAY BE that "the application side" of "Linux" really is just... raw code that is "LInux" and not "Windows" that runs Toyota audio, SIRI, you name it none at the "distribution" level, so they are not even using "Red Hat" they are using "bits and pieces" of Linux to...don't know...drive self driving cars...

OR...it "may" be because the article is a "plant" to promote RedHat I don't know... and no I don't have a tinfoil hat on this kind of stuff is done all the time...but...

It IS an interesting article of "how OS took over the world" in one way but in another, for there to be ONLY one use of the word Linux and NO use of the words Canonical or Ubuntu is rather...well, dunno...odd...

I am sure that there are denizens of the halls of Kubuntu with extensive knowledgeable on this and the old woodsmoker would SINCERELY like to read any comments.

Well....... open source is not just Linux.
I would not call this a major article, either. I mean, look at this current article on their homepage.
The context here seems to be the enterprise and business space, and really, Canonical haven't really created anything new on this area.

There is a lot more to open source than just linux. Look at github. Biggest language there is Javascript last time I looked.
