Indeed they are! I have two of them, aged 7 and 9, and although I don't get to see them often I absolutely adore them. I always wanted granddaughters, but it turns out grandsons are good, too.

I have three. The oldest, 23, just got married to a wonderful gal. They live in Nashville and both work professionally.
My other two are 11 and 16. I taught them both how to fish for Bass and the 11 yr old is now the Bass Whisperer! He has two Nebraska Angler Awards for big Bass caught and released. Makes A's & B's but he just discovered Battlefield II.

The 16 yr just got his drivers license, first car, first wreck and first ticket. He's noticed girls, too! His interest is in baseball and under the guidence of a UNL baseball coach he's been working in the weight room and eating a lot better. Put on about 15 lbs of muscle and is now ripped. Also gets A's & B's. Hope he doesn't sacrifice his grades for a car.
