AOL Instant Messenger to be discontinued.

Not one I really used myself, I preferred the Yahoo chat stuff. Didn't like the pointless extra software AOL put into a simple internet connection. I can imagine a lot of people over 30 will remember using it though.

Microsoft was putting AOL on its OS with an automatic install that couldn't totally be removed using the Uninstall program. To remove it completely one had to use regedit32 and edit the Windows register. Ditto for YaHOO! Both are spyware and spamware.

I thought it was already dead. It still amazes me when I come across people who still use AOL email addresses.
