Almost as a coincidence to it being called out in the Linus Tech Tips video, it's finally been fixed after (5?) years of people complaining about "open as root" being disabled with no replacement. It took nearly 13 years overall it seems.

Will this change keep the current schema that we have now gotten used to? I.E., will we still be able to use Dolphin / Kate to navigate to and open/edit root files and be prompted for our pwd to save changes made, or are we going to have to 're-learn' launching these GUI's from a konsole using sudo?

I am not sure if the sudo password sticks like it does in the terminal, but note that neither file I deleted gave me a password prompt whatsoever.

Good to see it done. I was actually getting used to the Nemo file manager. Can't wait to get back to Dolphin for those little super user jobs.
