    Vinny, is this a desktop computer? I have a couple older Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000.C 1TB drives I'm not using. I'll send them to you if you want. They're installed is my desktop, but I haven't touched them in quite awhile.

          SO,,,,,,,,,, the hard drive came yesterday ,,,,,,one of these ... https://www.amazon.com/Western-Digit.../dp/B001JSSDGU

          the exact drive it had to begin with .

          Poped it in ,,,,,,,,, fired up the HP suppled recovery disks ,,,,,,,,,,,,and this time we had a new win7 install (from 5-6 years ago) in about 2 hours to the users desktop .

          Today I finished the last of the windows security updates and I think it's running well so far ,,,,,,she hasn't touched it yet

              LOL ,,,,,,,,no it's her box ,,,,,but I did say when it gets crufed up this time it's Kubuntu or go by one

              it's my old HP-G62 that did have 4 ver. of Kubuntu on it when the HD went south ,,,,,,,,

              last night I connected to her current laptop (the screen is dieing on it as well)and copied her calibre library over (8GIB of e-books) ,,,, installed calibre on the new box tonight and pointed to the location ,,,and it see's them all 40,000+

              well ,,,now roboform , bookmarks ,,,the rest of her folders ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and I'm sure more to come.
