Rarely, as a fall back, when LO or something else has problem opening or displaying a file. Apart from that, no.

The default font was, a year or so ago, kinda, can't really describe it.. "old" "intended for low resolution monitors". But that may not hold true today.

It sucked at compatibility with .doc so I stopped using it ages ago.
