New SciFi author - two fanstasic books!
Her name is C.A. Higgins. She has a B.A. in Physics from Cornell University, and her writing shows it.
Her first offering is "Lightless", a story about the first of its kind starship which is powered by a microscopic black hole. It's on board computer, the biggest ever installed aboard a spaceship, is designed for research and becomes infected by a computer virus when the ship is attacked by terrorists. The virus triggers the computer into a sentience state.
Her second offering is a continuation of the story line in the first and is titled "Supernova".
She's is of the same caliber as Robert W. Sawyer ( Far-Seer, The Terminal Experiment, Calculating God, and the three volumes of the Neanderthal Parallax Trilogy - Hominids, Humans, and Hybrids, and Terry Pritchard/Stephen Baxter (The Long Earth series). Her two books are not filled with useless paragraphs to stuff the page count. Each and every page is exciting. I read both within two day, non-stop. Couldn't put them down.
