I have in my hands an Acer Aspire 3690 in MINT condition. It's got a spare 30GB drive in it. In your expert opinion, what would be the best distro to put on it?

Lubuntu - very light but still having enough features over a bare Lxde desktop. If it only has 512mb ram, Lxde or something with Icewm or similar will run like a champ, until you try and open a browser that is.
vectorlinux comes to mind as well.

Thanks, Claydoh, Lubuntu seems like just the ticket for a box with 512MB of RAM, an 80GB HD (C: & D and a 1.60 GHz Celeron M CPU."A nation that is afraid to let its people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its people.”
