Amorok TAKES FOREVER TO DO ANYTHING!!!

Amarok takes FOREVER to get on with the program!!

    Pun Intended! lol

This is "mainly" intended for people who "option" to "turn the computer off".

You turn on the computer, .....have some stuff to do in the "office" / "workspace" / "whatever" and want to listen to your fav internet thing or fav music saved to the hard drive.

And Amarok just...........takes FOREVER to get ANYWHERE............

    I mean..........FIVE MINUTES on a slow connexion.........

HERE is where the "old groaners" of "Linux history"......the ......originals.........

    HAVE A VALID COMPLAINT...........

"the "old groaners" just want the thing to ummm......START".

    Wellll...................

    +++++++++++++++++++++

"NOTE TO THE REGULAR PEOPLE WHO DETEST WOODSMOKE"........

I keep advocating that MAYBE........"SOMEBODY" at BlueSystems or Kubuntu should .......maybe

do......a thread or SOMEthing down in the dungeons about the original xmms...

I MEAN......HOW ARE NEW FROM WINDBLOWS PEOPLE SUPPOSED TO LEARN ABOUT......

    "pure Linux".

    +++++++++++++++++++++

    Anyway..........

YOUR AMAROK TAKES FOREVER TO GET HER SKIRTS UP AND GET ON WITH THE PROGRAM OF SWINGING ON A ROPE with

    DUUUUUUUHHHHHHhhhhhhhhh

    d'Artagnan

Amarok AS HAS SOME OF LINUX.........has finally succumbed to what HAS TO HAPPEN.......

Linux will NEVER be "totally free" in the next fifty years of so......

    In a Hundred years........yes................

Kelli and I have glided back..........

]YES..........DECADES... from now "software" will be "free".......but for now.......

"Ya gets what ya pays for" sometimes great or NOT

"Ya gets "free" and sometimes you are limited in a "pay as you go" world".

To get Amarok to JUST JUMP when you click it......

    HERE IS THE PROOF.......

You click Amarok and you see a little blue box down on the bottom left that says something like: "multiple background services running, click to..."

YA GOTTA CLICK ..........ONCE.......in the MIDDLE OF THE BLUE BAR......

    And voila:

"the right one third" of Amarok has a "window appear".

WAIT A BIT.......(that is an "homage" to the Brits reading this.....good ON Brits!!" lol )

And you will see ..... a WHOLE BUNCH OF LINES APPEAR"..........

THE ASSUMPTION IS THAT YOU LEAVE THE COMPUTER ON 24 / 7 / 365...

So this just has to happen ONE TIME.......

But.......if you regularly turn the computer off, for whatever reason........., all that stuff has to RE-LOAD!!!

AND IT CAN TAKE A LOOOOOOONNNNNNNGGGGGG TIME........

    In dog minutes.....or cat minutes.......or Matrix nanoseconds........LOL

You will see slowly appearing before your eyes all of the "STUFF" that Amarok is PRE-Programmed..........

    That is........um.........

PRE-Programmed to get under her skirts before she is ready to do

    WHATEVER.......................

you WANT.......and YOU WANT IT NOW.........NOT TEN SECONDS FROM NOW.......YOU WANT IT

    NOOOOWWWWW.......

    NOTICE THE HIGHLY PREGNANT TERM........

    WHATEVER..............................

    WHAT................EVER...........you want.........

    Welllllllllll

WHATEVER comes "with a price" and the "price" is.......YOUR time....

If you do not want all of the things that Amrok presents then....

    Go to

Settings / Configure Amarok / Plugins........

And UN check ........UN tick the things that you think that you do not want to use.

    HOWEVER.....................

This author highly recommends that one

    DO NOT UN TIC

Jamendo.............it is folks LIKE YOU........trying to get their music out......and doing it for a donation...

    MAYBE

"Maganatune store"..........THIS IS A BIG HOG OF RESOURCES............. but..........it is trying to get "INDEPENDENT" people a "play" so that maybe you donate some money..........

    After all........

There are a coupla guys maybe you should learn about....

    Torvalds

    Stallman

But.......UN tick things that you don't use......

YOU HAVE STALLMAN AND TORVALDS FREEDOM..............

you can......go back and TICK THEM.......lol

    accept, ok, close, restart........

    AND AMROK SPRINGS TO LIFE!!!

Of course there are on this forum MANY experienced Linux people who probably want to show the ol' woodsmoker just how things should be done the Linux way.......

OR.........maybe NEW TO LINUX people have a question..........

PLEASE ASK.....and one of the smart people will answer!!

Woody try clementine. It is a fork of Amarok from KDE3. It works beautifully even with streaming music online.

Vinny, you have too much info on your screen . It will lower your productivity lol cause you're staring at numbers .

But my god Woody try Clementine. It is so much nicer than Amarok. I don't even know where the differences start (or end!). And it has this beautiful icon that is a bliss to any screen! (A clementine!)

It does not? Such a shame. Maybe if you make a program do that endlessly it will make the top numbers go up.

Welll guys.........I'm just a diehard "KDE / Kubuntu " "purist".........I really do try to just use nothing but "KDE stuff". And, yea, on my machine that runs the largescreen t.v. now I have gone waaay down in size of distro......

I always tried to do the "how low can you go" thing on trying to jam a distro onto the oldest smallest hardware that I could dredge up off the beltways but nowadays, in my dotage, I want things to work quickly and reliably.

But........ on that machine I'm now using a distro that takes up maybe half of the cd and......sad to say......have had to enable Nvidia proprietary drivers. The open source drivers which work great on the machine upon which I'm typing are just "laggy" and "jaggy"....

So........That is why I use Amarok........... just a KDE / Kubuntu promoter. lol
