    Proof that Americans are gullible

    I simply could not believe this story when I read it, that Fox News is named "most trusted network" in America.


    Fox News, the American network that hosts experts believing Birmingham is a “totally Muslim” city and analysts who believe the uncovering of the CIA’s use of torture was actually designed to tell Americans they’re “not awesome,” has been voted the most trusted news network in the US.

      A case of all things being relative...
      Personally, I don't "trust" any news media. They must all be taken with the proverbial "grain of salt".
      As for Fox being the "most trusted network"... Yes it is possible, but that doesn't quantify the difference
      between Fox's reporting and other media reporting.
      For all of them, you get what you pay for <tongue firmly planted in cheek>.

        For Fox news, you get what Murdoch, the Koch brothers and the like paid for. (Which, to most outside the US, even conservatives, is contemptible rubbish. As it is even for Fox presenters, if they're caught off guard.)

        Excusing Fox for their misinformation by saying they're all biased is a cop-out. IMO, I suppose.

          If you go by these numbers, you can see that far less than one in ten people is watching the most viewed news channel, and approx 2 out of ten are watching cable news in general. This is using the P2 number, which is the number of people over 2 years old. The figures to the right might indicate that the real number of people who are actually actively watching them is even lower.


          Like it or not, Fox news puts on a better "show" than the others, that's all.

            FYI, the #2 owner of Fox news is Prince Alwaleed bin Talal. A man quoted as saying a strong American government was not good for the Saudi's.

                    Is there any evidence to suggest that Fox news should not be trusted over the others? I once read an article that Fox does more news vs. commentary than all other news networks other than CNN. Perhaps that's the reason why it's more trusted. More news vs. commentary.

                    BTW, I don't watch Fox news. I don't like anyone on that network, especially Bill O'Reilly.

                            Cable news, regardless of network is not news. It is entertainment. At times it is perverse entertainment, but nevertheless entertainment.

                            I use news feeds, feedly, on my laptop, foreign and domestic. I will read coverage on the same story to get different perspectives and make up my own mind on the content.
                            Linux because it works. No social or political motives in my decision to use it.

                              This. To an American it may be hard to conceive... but people in the west, even the most "stupid" of them will know how "stupid" the news on Fox would be. Talking about Europeans mostly, I guess. It is hard to explain to an American the perspective of being outside of America, if they have never been outside of it (in their minds) as well. I guess.
