Just went to the bug report and it is fixed in Plasma 5.2.1. I am now wondering how the other "problems" that I listed can be raised or should I just be patient and assume that the developers are aware of them and that they will be fixed in due course?

No, do not assume they are aware. It may not be universal, so they may not see it themselves.

              kf5 port?
by birdflesh on: Feb 3 2015

Hello, any plans on porting this to the next version of plasma? Thanks.

by jaegerschnitzel on: Feb 3 2015

No real plans, but I think I will do once it becomes stable enough. I currently have no time to maintain more than one desktop system on my computer.

This plasmoid is not ported yet to kde frameworks. I think I will port it some time, but not within the next weeks or so.

Thanks for the references. I have just dealt with Screensavers and from my understanding we will not see them in Vivid as stated at https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?...330181#p330181

                  Shaving the Screen

As Claydoh pointed ( https://www.kubuntuforums.net/showth...l=1#post367640 ) the XScreenSaver is there.

                  A good one: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/XScreenSaver

                  Installing: xscreensaver xscreensaver-data-extra xscreensaver-gl-extra

                  Starting the xscreensaver.

                  Configuring the xscreensaver.

Adding the lock command to the KDE energy savings.

                  ...and shaving the screen...

                  ( the clock is Karamba clock - https://www.kubuntuforums.net/showth...p?61798-Clocks )

                  Seems to work...

Anyone else seeing 'empty' file open dialogs like this?

I can remove "Documents" in the Name box, manually change the location bar, click on Places, and nothing will show up.

The only items that will show up where I expect to see files is Network in Places.

The screenshot is from Startup Disk Creator, but Gwenview and other applications behave the same.

Probably an anomaly in your color theme

Standard Breeze Dark colors. I had tried switching to Breeze color scheme and Desktop Theme. No joy.

                            Remove the filter entry.

You can't remove the filter in Startup Disk Creator. Same behavior in Kate, which doesn't have a filter set.

Logged in as another user -- no joy.

Very confusing indeed. I can manipulate things to get to the iso (see the youtube links I posted), but even after the dialog 'sees' the file, the Open button comes back with "Can't find file".

                              More file dialog weirdness:

Tried to save a krunner crash report. Hit the Save icon, type in a file name, get a dialog that says:

                              Unable to create io-slave:
                              klauncher said: Unknown protocol 'file'.

                                Odd indeed. No filter here.
