That's impressive!
On a related note, have you ever had a look at marinetraffic.com? It provides real time mapping of ships using AIS data (example for the English Channel below):
You can see where each ship is registered, where it is headed, speed, size etc. I used it to do a traffic survey for a project at university once, from the comfort of my own home. Beats travelling to Wales in the pouring rain!Comment
