OK... thanks, Marco. That's very interesting... you have the current firmware and the same card as I have... and your wireless works without problems?

Somehow I have a feeling that something is messed up in my network components... can anyone advise me how to best reinstall these components?

 I fully agree! What touchpad options/settings did you choose? Maybe I can benefit from your wisdom.

I configured the speed of the pointer movement and accelaration to my liking. Also, set the two finger tap for right click. The latter helped alot because original settings (corners) as right click was very difficult to use. Almost did not function.

Lol... I did exactly the same. But I also foudn that I had to increase the mute time after typing and eventually I decided to disable the touchpad alltogether when the mouse is plugged in, because accidental tapping is still to easy. Unfortuantely that also effectively disables the trackpoint, because you cant click anymore. It would be very useful to map mouse clicks to keys on the keyboard as a workaround.

(For thouse without a recent Thinkpad, the trackpoint buttons are on the touchpad, so that you can't disable the touchpad without loosing the trackpoint buttons. And it is also almost impossible to "click" without disturbing the touchpad and moving the mouse pointer in the process. Very annoying! I dont understand why Lenovo ships something like that!)
