BTW, was it summer or winter when you visited Iceland? Does it make a difference?

Heh, I'm exactly 2/3 your age. Which absolutely does not look or feel like 1/3, so I know (a bit) of what you say...
You know, I can't remember. The trips were in 2005-2006. I went there ostensibly to speak at some seminars. I got interviewed by their TV news about PC security. Then the event organizers took us to the Blue Lagoon geothermal spa, to some mud trails for several hours of most excellent four-wheeling, and a drive through the mountains. We saw Thingvellir National Park, site of the planet's first parliament. We saw Silfra, the meeting point of the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates (Iceland is sliding apart -- get there before it splits!). And everywhere we went, we saw guysers. Amazing little place, Iceland is.
Iceland uses Hydrogen powered buses and they generate that Hydrogen with geothermal plants. Iceland is energy rich.
With the advent of fracing here in America were are becoming energy rich as well, but fracing does serious damage to the geology.

It's also a great place to build a datacenter. Need to cool it down? Just open a window
and then turn on the heat to keep the hardware above freezing!
