This is just such a NON-issue.
I ran across this in a review a few days ago...........
However, I can fault KDE for not having a complete manual for Calligra though.... I offered to do write ups and actually had one person contact me but then acted as if it really was just such a waste of their time. So when one is treated that way...what does one do......go drink a rum 'n coke! lol
Anyway this is a NON-issue and I am going to explain why before I tell you how to "spacebar"...
I would like for you to actually "space bar" across using say........ LO writer. Go ahead, fire up writer and spacebar over.......ummmm just WHERE are you when you are "there"?
99 percent of people never use the spacebar to "go over to the other side of the page"...
They almost always are using........................ "periods"........ to make a line.....
If you DO use the spacebar, and then go back and REformat......... you quite often end up with..... text that was at the end of "spacing over" in the wrong place...
That is why there is a TAB button built INTO the keybaord.
So here is how one .........."spacebars" over in a document in Calligra....
Go ahead and fire up Calligra words and put the cursor on the left side and try to use the space bar..
nada...it sits there
now use the tab...and you "jump over" don't know... ten spaces each I think...
So tab over a few times...
BUT People immediately shout to the rafters that
A) ..............IT WENT PAST WHERE I WANT TO GO!!!!@
There ia a really odd piece of equipment on a keybaord, it is called a back space key.
ummmm backspace to where you want to be....
B) ............It didn't GO FAR ENOUGH...!!
There is another piece of equipment.........a SPACEBAR.....
spacebar over a few spaces to where you want to be.
BUT THAT IS JUST STOOPID IT IS EXTRA WORK....
maybe, maybe not...
You should actually TRY
a) "spacebarring" a long ways across the page
b) tabbing to either "before" or "past" where you want to end up and then spacebarring or back arrowing.
I contend that the latter method is faster by a few seconds...
now it does require that one ...um do two things to get there... in the latter method :0 OH HORRORS!!
Guess what ...if a young person in an IT office applications classes...........SPACEBARS across a page.........the Microsith program that is watching each and every computer in that classroom alerts the teacher and he or she gets up out of his or her seat........and lugs all that weight accumulated in his or her derrier down the aisle...and he or she stops at the computer and slaps the kid on the knuckles with a ruler!!! LOL, not on the ruler but yes on the notice to the instructor.
The real ADVANTAGE of using the tab method is in saving lost time in reformatting.
So at the end of a long work day.....considering the number of times that you had to have a "letter" half way across a page....
Which method took the longest TOTAL time, adding in messups from reformatting?
Now if you can't handle tab keys......then just forget Calligra and go for LO.
if anyone has questions, please ask.
