Is there some way to get the Breeze wallpaper, window decorations and icons?
I have a few issues with that as wel
The icons for the folders in Dolphin are half Breeze and half Oxygen.
Ironically, the Breeze icons show perfectly in 14.04 and they look gorgeous. Never been a fan of the Oxygen theme.
    Window decoration is fully Breeze.
If you installed Neon alongside 14.04, you will find the wallpapers in the /opt directory

For some reason, I get a "pink hued" desktop every once in a while. It may be the CPU somehow, because it does it with two different video cards.

My colours are correct, so I must be on a good high fibre diet. Recently I noticed that Plasma 5 makes use of the GPU for offloading graphics processing. If there are compatibility problems with the driver for the GPU, this may cause problems with the rendering of graphics. The article that I found is here. The comment that I am referring to is:
        Fully Hardware-Accelerated Graphics Stack

        Search in Plasma
Plasma 5 completes the migration of the Plasma workspace to QtQuick. Qt 5's QtQuick 2 uses a hardware-accelerated OpenGL(ES) scenegraph to compose and render graphics on the screen. This allows offloading computationally expensive graphics rendering tasks onto the GPU which frees up resources on the system's main processing unit, is faster and more power-efficient.
Internal changes in the graphics compositor and underlying Frameworks prepare support for running on Wayland, which is planned for an upcoming release.
I hope I am not giving you a bum-steer by introducing this into the discussion and I hope the pink hue is soon fixed with the 80+ updates that come 7 days a week.

Since Kubuntu 14.10 beta was released, the Plasma5 option iso was relesed. So I decided to install that instead of the neon5 which was based on 14.04. Since doing this change, there have hardly been any updates to plasma5. Also, the performace seems to have gone backwards. The login screen now requires me to click on the password window to login. Also, the network manager now requires me to connect each time I boot. There are no options for akonadi on the System Settings which is a definite limitation.

Currently this and other issues such as, widgets with limited number and control, no HP icon, VLC menu selection not working, no volume control icon, make plasma5 more limited than neon5.

I am surprised that there is this difference and I hope we see some improvement in the near future.

I have just copied korganizer files from my 14.10 system onto my 14.10 plasma5 directory ~/.kde/share/apps/korganizer/ and I was able to launch KOrganizer with the Calendar entries. The approach I use for my Calendar is not using Akonadi directories.

For some time now since installing plasma5, I had never seen access to the ppa added by sudo apt-add-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/next. Just to make sure that I had not missed it, I copied all the sites accessed doing sudo apt-get update and pasted them into Kate. I did a search for "next" and nothing was found.

I cannot see how this can happen and would like to know how I can get accessed to this ppa which is in the muon package manager.

If you installed kubuntu via the special plasma 5 iso, you already have the kubuntu-next ppa enabled. What do you mean by accessing it, specifically?
If you open muon package manager and look at the "origin' tab on the left, you will see "Kubuntu Next" listed. Clicking on that entry will filter Muon to show only those packages from that ppa. If you don't use Muon, look in /etc/apt/sources.list.d, and peek at the file ubuntu-defaults file you will see the ppa there (I do not know why it is listed as ubuntu-defaults there, but it is). All your ppa's will have a file in this folder, what you see running apt-get update does not show the full repo information , just the base url for them (such as ppa.launchpad.net)

Plasma 5 is not updated that often, as KDE have not released that many official updates to it so far, and as Plasma 5 is basically the base desktop and not the applications so much, there have been few of these official updates for it at this point, at least not since the time your iso was created.

However, those using Neon daily builds would get stuff more regularly

Yes, kmix and ark are missing (still, I think) but can be installed, i also think that there was a bug where kmix was not starting at login automatically, but I myself have not experienced that one.

Thanks for the useful tips. I did find next where you said it was. I also tried another approach by using "plasma" in the search for muon. I found many plasma applications to install. I must confess that I should have stayed with Neon. At the moment I will not change this as I am in the process of fixing up problems on my utopic installation.

There will be a lot of packages with the term "plasma" in them, and a lot of them are not for Plasma-5, but are for KDE4's version of Plasma Desktop so you might not see many of the widgets etc in your plasma 5 desktop

(Darn those pesky KDE devs for making a muck of the namings of things!!)

here is muon, filtered for the plasma-net ppa

Neon is still running fine, on the large screen t.v. and is very stable, however, the only real advantage I see for it over Kubuntu is that I can place an icon/link on the desktop like one can with XP. I'll prolly just install Kubuntu and put a folder view on the desktop, or I could put some kind of "user bar/launcher" on...

The default video media player Tangerine DOES remember a stream like SOMA fm from day to day and will restart the stream with one click, and it does play a list of converted flvs. to mpeg (so I can take them to the college) and will play a folder with one click.

I was rather disappointed with 14.10 plasma 5. So I have followed the procedures here for installing it on 14.04. I have installed the weekly updates using this ppa: ppa:neon/kf5-snapshot-weekly. Today I had about 90 updates for project-neon5. So I guess the updates are on Monday each week. Nothing is broken with these updates and I find it is better than the 14.10 plasma 5 installation for which I hardly saw any updates related to plasma 5.

I also have this ppa on my system and I wasn't getting updates every day so I added the weekly one. I assume that having both activated will not cause problems. This morning there were not updates, so I hope all is well with my software sources and it is not a case of being on the other side of the Pacific Ocean.
