DirectDraw Surface Viewer for Linux??

I have some "DirectDraw Surface" images I would like to keep in the original format but I would like to view them. As you may already know DDS is a MS format and I did the usual search on the webpages and came out with nothing for Linux. IF I must use a windows program through WINE that is ok but I would hope by now someone has an addon or something for this format.

Preview

The KDE DDS support was added to the 'old' KDE 3, https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=78117 ,and it seems to work with the KDE 4.11:


The KDE file managers have the preview option. With the Dolphin > Settings > Configure Dolphin > General > Previews > Enable the 'Images' preview.

The KDE document viewer - Okular - can show the DDS files.



At here the Okular is the default application for the DDS files. KDE System Settings > File Associations > dds ...




Other - ImageMagick

The ImageMagick - Display shows the DDS files and it can be added to the 'File Associations'

The standard KDE imageviewer - The Gwenview shows the DDS files:

Thanks, I now see the issue with the files I was given. None of them have the dds extentions so dolphin, gwen, etc.. doesn't "see" them.

I thought it was a Linux vs Windows issue but it is not.
