I have had a "biosafe" for about 6 months. I have opened it exactly one time, just to see if it would open. My heirs will have to cut my finger off to get it open.Linux because it works. No social or political motives in my decision to use it.

My first thought of your interpretation was of the cavity used most often to conceal drugs... I was trying to envision what it would be like to pull a 9mm Beretta Nano out of that cavity. The sight of that would probably kill an attacker with laughter.
My biosafe is a strong metal box with a finger scanner on the front. It's coded with the major fingers of both of my hands, my wife's hands and a couple fingers from each of my two kids. Works quick and neat. It also houses some copies of important documents that are in my fireproof safe."A nation that is afraid to let its people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its people.”

Ah yes, the usual confusion of identity (not secret) with authentication (secret). The beauty of secrets is that you can change them as often as you wish. But how do you revoke a finger?
Furthermore, biometric "authenticators" are, as Rich suggests, potential targets. An accountant in Malaysia unfortunately discovered this first, ah, finger several years ago.

LOL. You both jumped to the wrong conclusion. I have finger fatigue from trying to keep up with the Forum posts.Linux because it works. No social or political motives in my decision to use it.

Losing a finger would be nothing compared to a child gaining access to a firearm and accidentally killing someone with it. Otherwise, I'd keep my firearm in the headstand of my bed. I chose the biosafe to avoid having to fumble for keys in an emergency. It takes only three seconds to open the safe. Why do I own a handgun you ask? When seconds count the police are only minutes away, unless you live in Detroit and other urban slums. They they might never respond to a 911 call, which is why Sheriff Clarke suggested travelers stay out of Detroit and residents arm themselves. Part of my business for 15 years was criminal forensics and my testimony has resulted in several people being sent to prison. One in particular was sentenced to life in prison without parole, but last summer the SCOTUS ruled sentences like his unconstitutional. Declared psychotic by two psychiatrists at his trial, with recommendations that he never be released in the public because of his hatred for women, things are now in the works to get his sentence commuted for time served, which is 26 years. His 12 year old victim is still serving her time in the grave with no chance of a commutation."A nation that is afraid to let its people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its people.”

Not sure what this has to do with tablets and PC's. Suffice it it to say as a gun owner I have more moderate views.Linux because it works. No social or political motives in my decision to use it.
