    HotShots Screen Capture utility

Not available from the standard *buntu repositories, our illustrious member Rog131 has it in his launchpad ppa: https://launchpad.net/~samrog131/+archive/ppa

This is a very cool utility. Way better than the default KSnapshot. I've wondered how he creates the beautifully annotated screenshots (including graphical data -- arrows, etc.) he includes in his posts. Now I know.

I was using a combination of KSnapshot and KolourPaint.
It's time to get some new tools!

Running Kaption on this 23.10 install fails with:
            Code:
            teunis@13-10-W520:~$ kaption
QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication. Application may misbehave.
QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication. Application may misbehave.
It will result in a process called kaption listed in the system activities.

Nice app! I just upgraded to KDE 4.11.2 and it crashes. It worked in 4.11.1. Screen goes black and get dumped to the lightdm login screen.
Linux because it works. No social or political motives in my decision to use it.

                    README

                    1) What is KScreenGenie

KScreenGenie is a screenshooter utility for KDE. It is written
using the very latest KDE and Qt technologies (KDE Frameworks 5,
Qt 5 and QtQuick 2.0), and aims for a cleaner and more modular
codebase over KSnapshot (the previous screenshooter utility for
KDE) rather than adding features. KScreenGenie's codebase is
designed specifically so that it's easy to add Wayland support
once an API becomes available for it...
