@dbaker check out "recoll" it's in your package manager .
it is very fast and light (after it's initial indexing ) ,,,, 1 tip when you first run it kill indexing immediately and adjust the indexing settings to what you really knead indexed
and then start indexing agin and let it build it's data base.
