Welcome, and maybe I should try the IRC. What version of Kubuntu are you using.

I have been installing almost all the versions for years, and right now I'm using the Saucy testing version, and unbelievably, its almost perfect. There are some glitches along the way( mostly cockpit errors), but it is turning into a great KDE distro. I re-install every few days and work the problems out as they come.

On my desktop runs Saucy, on my home laptop run Raring. These are my test machines. Then I have another laptop which I use for college related things this one runs Raring and Windows 7.
I'm part of the Kubuntu Testers Team so that is why I have two testing machines.
