How To Avoid Data Surveillance Programs.

I just noticed this article: http://www.unixmen.com/how-to-avoid-...ance-programs/.

It's interesting enough, although I think it misses some options (more email accounting or DNS server options).
Personally, I'm thinking to switch back to my ISP DNS servers and search for another email provider, keeping the Gmail one for forum - maillist registrations, RSSes and such things.

    Any opinions?
Also, do you think that Chromium is secure enough (since it have not the bundled user stats), or do I have to switch back to Firefox?
