Alas, poor Sandisk Clip! I hardly knew ye.

One could debate whether MTP or MSC is better or preferred, but MSC is more universal - the device shows up as an external drive. MTP in the past has been spotty in linux, depending on the device and the version of the mtp libraries at any given time. I am sure it is possible that something Linux-y could have done something to the Clip, but it is not the first place I'd look. Sometimes reformatting the device (from within it's own options) can fix things, at the loss of any data on it.

I have had many Sandisk mp3 payers over the years, including the Clip when it was first released, until I got my first phone. I always used MSC because MTP was usually flaky at best. This was about 2 years back now, so things obviously have changed. The only player that actually died on me was the Clip, due to an unfortunate leap it made into a glass of water.

The truth is it was a glass of water. I dunno if anyone want to hear the rest of the truth, as the details might be a little scary

            It's simple:
            Me
            Claw foot tub
            Bubble bath
            Clip on low shelf
Glass of water on floor below said Clip
Clip decided to cliff dive into glass

            Happy now? B-)

So, what you are really telling us, is your Sandisk Clip, apparently despondent, committed suicide! Sad. Very sad. If only you had recognized the signs.

Even sadder is I replaced the Sansa Clip with a Sandisk Sansa Fuze+, which has the worst control pad evar. That one still works, I use it as a microsd card reader, all it is good for.
The poor clip was only mere days old, I never got attached to it, really (get it, get it? )

So young. So short a life. I hope the memories of the good times you shared are enough to temper your feelings of loss.

(See, I worried about how the truth could be a bit on the shocking side )

Actually, due to plumbing deficiencies in my current digs, I can't anymore

Thank you, my friend. I was traumatized by the experience. And I was out of ice, too
