    I Love [K]Ubuntu!

A couple of days ago I completely wiped Windows 7 from my computer. Then I installed Kubuntu 13.04 along with the Ubuntu desktop. After some playing, tweaking settings, learning and becoming more comfortable with the command line, etc, I can't possibly see why anyone would want to use Windows and/or OSX when Linux and it's various distros are great and FREE!

I understand that some people need specific software that just won't work on Linux, i.e. MS Office, Adobe CS, but c'mon...why do they bash it so much?

Hello cessanfrancisco. Welcome to Kubuntu forums.

I think most of the negative press about Linux comes from folks on the payroll of companies like Apple and Mickey-soft. Then there is always the hapless soul who forgets to read the directions and looses all his files. Hint, first step is always "BACKUP YOUR DATA!". Stuff happens.

Admittedly, when I first installed Linux I was so paranoid of loosing Win XP I disconnected that drive and installed Linux on a new one. Like you I quickly decided "OH, this is much better".

    Enjoy.

    Ken.
Opinions are like rear-ends, everybody has one. Here's mine. (|)

Same here, welcome to the forum. Back when I was using 10.10 on my laptop, someone asked, "Is that the new Windows coming out? That looks so cool!" I said no this is Linux Kubuntu, it is available for free on the internet and... The conversation ended abruptly and the person told me they wouldn't trust something downloaded off the internet for free. So what I tell the fools like that now is; Yes! This is the next generation of Windows and I can sell you a bootleg copy of it for 50 dollars. Just joking about that last bit. But I swear people act like something is no good, if you didn't get charged an arm and leg for it.
