Ubuntu and Canonical, yes. Other members of the Ubuntu family, I hope not. Too much commercialisation on the horizon for my liking.

In my IRC 'exchange' with SABDFL which can be found at http://irclogs.ubuntu.com/2013/05/22...classroom.html*, he says that the 'flavours' will not be forgotten.

I hope that what he says is true in the long term and that the developers of Kubuntu, Lubuntu, Xubuntu, Ubuntu Gnome and whatever might exist now or in the future can take their flavour in whichever direction they or their users feel is desired or appropriate without conflicting with the 'flagship' flavour of Ubuntu.

Couldn't help himself, he had to take yet another underhanded swing at Martin Graesslin, I see. Kind of childish.

I'm not convinced that "running any X environment" will remain so easy as Mark says. With Canonical out of the loop, will maintenance of X and Wayland fall entirely on the X-Swat and Xorg-Edgers folks?
