Canonical has a hit with this one!

Yeh I agree it looks good and I believe they came in first with cnet just recently on new technology. Just in front of Firefox OS but can they get the phone manufacturers backing?

Exactly. Firefox OS has already got a lot of interest and backing.

I really hope this will win a sustainable part of the market.
I still have a Nokia n900 but it's getting old and I would really miss the convenience of Linux while on the move.

My Nexus-7 is a nice machine, it even sports a sort of terminal but there's too much of GNU missing in Android to call it Linux.
Next time I'm in a country where they sell the Nexus-4 I'll get one and try to run Ubuntu on it.
Just as a stepping stone to Kubuntu of course

You can now get Plasma Active builds for your Nexus 7. It's coming along well. It's based on Mer, though, not Ubuntu.

Ah yes very good, thanks for the tip.

I've run into issues rooting the Nexus-7, as such it runs fine but I can no longer connect to it via USB.
With this news I'll give it another try.

And in the mean time I got a Nexus-4 via Germany

Ah yeah, I love my Nexus 4. Slippery little bastard, though. The glass back is poor industrial engineering, IMHO.

I've wiped mine clean of the build it came with. I like AOKP along with the kernel from Faux123. Good stuff.

                Ah yes, nice combo.

Hehe, just met a colleague who put the Nexus-4 kernel/ image on his Samsung
