For the lucky ones.......the love of your life...

    Typed on Calligra Words.

The impression that is given by the people who post in "Linux for(a)ums" is of "cold heartless .....um Inglorious People who kill Hitler's minions......

But... there are those...who are not Inglorious Bast.....s....There are those......

Who..... have sat at their terms....

    And....cried......

    Many decades....many centuries....many aeons ago......

I met a woman.... in a dream that was ordained by a Captain Corageous...

    Oh.......what a woman!!!!

THE.....woman as opined by a certain author of the Victorian Era........

    THE woman!!!

    +++++++++++++++++++++

    How many men....?

can I use such an anachronistic a term.....?

I think not in the hyper - legalistic - non- religious - politically correct halls of Linxdom....

    I think not....

    How many men......

    Have actually met........

    the LOVE of his life?

    How many women......

    Have actually met ....

    the LOVE of her life.......

If one gets down on one's knees.....

and IMPLORES the great spaghetti monster in the sky....

one will get.... less than ready pasta sticking to the wall above the stove in the way too expensive rent controlled flat....

    But...maybe...just maybe.....

YOU.....will have..... met THE woman of your life...

    or

YOU ......will meet THE man of your life.....

and you will be so FU#$%^& head over heels IN LOVE....that....

even if you only get to spend a precious short time with him....or her....

That....like in the black and white films of yore....

that are so despised by the intelligentsia......

YOU....can spend the rest of your life.... knowing that YOU.....

    had......the LOVE ....of a lifetime!

    AND....even if ....through your own...

politically correct, gotta do the RIGHT THING..., Death of Marat Sade..., haute coture... Bertrand Russel, Socialist, Communist, Capitalist..... dogma... religious eltitism...........

    You somehow contrive....

to LOSE .....that love of your life....

You can rest in the knowledge....that at least....

    you DID.....have.....

    the love....

    of your life.....

    If anyone asks,
I'll tell them we both just moved on
    When people all stare
I'll pretend that I don't hear them talk
    Whenever I see you,
    I'll swallow my pride
    and bite my tongue
Pretend I'm okay with it all
    Act like there's nothing wrong

    Is it over yet?
    Can I open my eyes?
Is this as hard as it gets?
Is this what it feels like to really cry?
    Cry

    If anyone asks,
I'll tell them we just grew apart
    Yeah what do I care
If they believe me or not

    Whenever I feel
Your memory is breaking my heart
I'll pretend I'm okay with it all
    Act like there's nothing wrong

    Is it over yet?
    Can I open my eyes?
Is this as hard as it gets?
Is this what it feels like to really cry?
    Cry

    I'm talking in circles
    I'm lying, they know it
Why won't this just all go away

    Is it over yet?
    Can I open my eyes?
Is this as hard as it gets?
Is this what it feels like to really cry?
    Cry
    Cry

    Nice one!

    Good thing you're still around.

The love of my life came and went, I drank the pain away for a couple of years, still think about her everyday. :-/

I'm still married to her, 31+ years later.

Note to self: Tell her again, today!

There goes that Midwest stuff again. I know of no "intelligentsia" who despise the old B&W films., especially the romance genre, and particularly the classics.

Apart from that, the "solution" here is to not drink so much wine. You can drink almost anything else, almost as much as you care to, but not, specifically, wine. As it distorts one's sense of destiny.

Same here. I had a good female friend back in high school. Oh, what could have been.

I occasionally find myself wondering if I already met the potential love of my life and just didn't realise it at the time (and therefore missed out) or if I've yet to meet her.

All I know is that I wouldn't describe any relationship I've ever had as the love of my life. At this point in my life I suspect that it's too late, and that it will never happen, because I'm not even sure I have it in me to love like that any more... too many scars.

Heh, well, considering that I did post in a different topic only today that incredibly unlikely events do in fact happen, I guess I can't argue with that.

Hoist by my own petard, lol

Nah, you were right the first time, the older you get, your chances dwindle, women have an agenda, when you are young, yeah, lots of fun in and out of the sack, when you start to age, they want to know how fat your wallet is, finding a sincere mate late in life, that is where the luck comes in, better stock up on rabbits' feet and horseshoes, cuz yer gunna need 'em. :-/

Oh yeah, I'm not kidding myself.

While incredibly unlikely events can and do happen, by definition they happen incredibly infrequently. I don't plan on holding my breath...

I am quite relieved you won't be holding your breath, I would hate to see you turn purple over a woman, Lord knows what else we go through for them, lol.

If my ambition to become a successful fiction writer comes to fruition, maybe I'll attract a mate thanks to a combination of minor celebrity status and (most importantly) the alluring odour of eau-du-cash. The most effective pheromone known to humankind!

I had a heart once and gave it to a woman. Pretty sure she ate it. That was 25 years ago. Since none have never measured up. Though obviously she wasn't "The One" in the end. But staying single isn't that easy guys wtf? Takes some real effort. Leads me to believe ya might need to back away from the keyboard a little more often. Might try getting to church. Seriously ya won't burst into flames I promise. Sheesh makes me want to go on that bender I been putting off for a couple years.
