    Acer/Chromebook C7

    Hi

Saw this on G+, since many here seem to be in UK and US - this is a bargain!! It's not a work machine but *woaah* - the price almost make me want to buy a ticket to London.

for $199 the hardware is totally 'ok' - I wonder how many google plan to ship for that price? Anyway I assume that it would be easy to install our fav dist on it

It is a really great offer. I'm not familiar enough with the Chromebook, so I would appreciate it if someone would say surely that is easily and smooth switching to Kubuntu. I would be interested and what are your impressions of Chrome OS. Thanks in advance!

Under the covers, ChromeOS is a highly customized Ubuntu that's then mostly concealed from the user. The Chrome browser receives a few additional features that add basic operating system-like functionality: configuring network interfaces, mostly. All your routine work is performed within the browser window.

You can experiment with a Virtual Box build of ChromiumOS (very similar to ChromeOS) using the Vanilla build by Hexxeh. I'd suggest you try this before you invest in ChromeOS hardware.

I will explore better Chromebooks and will also wait for some reviews of this at YouTube.

        Thanks!
