Has anybody figured out how to install Wizorb? The downloaded file has a Wizorb executable file that wont run and a Wizorb.exe file that also wont run.
EDIT: Answered my own question. You have to install some missing Mono libraries. These ones got the game up and running for me:
libmono-system-drawing4.0-cil
mono-4.0-gac
I couldnt get it to launch directory for some reason, so had to make a short bash script pointing to the Wizorb executable.Last edited by whatthefunk; Sep 26, 2012, 07:33 AM.

Thanks for the heads up! That's one game I won't be running unless I do it on my Win7 partition WITHOUT a connection to the Internet, but there is almost NO chance of that happening."A nation that is afraid to let its people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its people.”

Eww, I don't want my PC to get 'infected' with Mono. Add me to the list of people who won't be installing Wizorb.sigpic "Let us think the unthinkable, let us do the undoable, let us prepare to grapple with the ineffable itself, and see if we may not eff it after all." -- Douglas Adams

Mistrust of Microsoft has led to some concerns about Mono:

So Microsoft is threatining to attack our cummunity again. Microsft has been trying to teardown linux for years but we just get stronger and they always come out looking like fools. I figure as long as we never trust Microsoft then we can prepare for anything. I say use mono, just keep an eye out for trouble.Just to remind users and devs that Ubuntu and its flavors have a long way to go to be as usr friendly as they should be.

I realize this is a bit off-thread (not the first time I've jacked.. ) but what exactly is the fear of using a couple mono libraries on your personal system? I am as big a hater of MicroSith as any of you are - but am I to believe M$ will sue me personally if I play Rochard and I don't pay them a royality? Seriously? If I were a developer, I'd stay half-the-globe away from anything M$ had any ties to, but how does this impact an end user?
Clearly, there's something afoot here that I don't understand.
I see the same attitude about Gnome libraries. I have always hated Gnome, but there a couple very good apps with no KDE alternates and hard drive space is cheap enough that I can install half-a-dozen gnome libraries and GTK+ themes.

However... and it's a fairly substantial however... Rochard doesn't depend on any Mono libs being installed on your system; any Mono stuff it uses is kept inside Rochard's installation directory, and only ever gets called by Rochard. From the point of view of the entire rest of your system, Mono isn't present. I can live with that scenario... just
PS. @ Oshunluvr: AFAICT, the objections to Mono aren't of such a practical nature; it's more of an ideological thing really.sigpic "Let us think the unthinkable, let us do the undoable, let us prepare to grapple with the ineffable itself, and see if we may not eff it after all." -- Douglas Adams

@Halation: Thanks for the response. I sort got that feeling but I genuinely wanted to know the reasons if there we're some I wasn't aware of. I eschew all things Microsoft or Apple to the extent possible, but I'm not an extremist.

This is the Twitter account of the guy porting it to Linux: https://twitter.com/flibitijibibo
Seems it's almost ready. In the meantime, the Windows version works perfectly with Wine, as far as I can tell.

All this has been covered thoroughly in previous posts on the subject, and since Mono is dying or dead, it matters little.
Also, I've noticed that several HumbleIndia apps, and "Receiver" from Wolfire (http://www.wolfire.com/receiver) contain directories titled "Mono", which contain libmono.so, and several config files and directories. But, deleting the install directory deletes everything, including Mono files. I think what we are seeing with these games are developers who use Windows and .NET trying to expand into the rapidly expanding Linux market by leveraging their .NET code using Mono. Mono is supposed to be cross platform. I haven't looked close enough to see what they are using for video drivers."A nation that is afraid to let its people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its people.”
