Had a wonderful time tonight!
I purchased three months of a Minecraft Tekkit host so that my grandsons and I could play Minecraft Tekkit from out own homes without anyone having to travel across town to play on my local LAN. I got three months for $29.95. The Tekkit environment is already setup up with a default "World". All one has to do is log into it, but no setup is required. All one has to do is download the client jar file:

and run it in a Konsole:
java -jar technic-launcher-latest.jar
We had a blast this evening fighting spiders, zombies, Endermen, Creepers and such while beginning the task of creating a "home" base of operations. Here is what the Tekkit mods to Minecraft look like:
