Microsoft to drop name "metro" from Windows 8

Whilst viewing another linux based forum, I came across news about Microsoft Windows 8 due to come out soon.

One thing that surprises me is that Microsoft usually fights copyright / patent infringments in court so why are they backing down on this one?

Many places use Metro to refer to light rail, buses and other forms of transportation, so it is unlikely that M$ could actually win a fight on the name. Or maybe they were getting tired of all of the metrosexual references with regards to Windows 8. Who knows why M$ does anything, other than to further their bottom line.
