I've got one of those old Clabber Girl cans (empty). There's lots of neat stuff in this "category." Like Arm and Hammer baking soda which still comes in the box. I miss the boxed Argo Corn Starch, took me awhile to accept the new 16-oz plastic cube container, but now the latter does seem more practical with its large screw cap--and you can stack other items on it in your cupboard. So, ultimately, some of the changes do make sense, on occasion, at times, maybe, ... I suppose, ...

Come on, let's not miss the point here. It's not what the Clabber Girl did, it is what she tried to do that counts. She tried to make every MAN on Earth happy, and thereby achieve World Peace (or Peace on Earth, if you believe the Christmas songs). Lots of good will toward men. You do get it, right?

Don't know about that messy clabber, though. Could, indeed, be a major distraction to the work at hand.

Personally for me, it's not the girl on the label I'm reminiscing about. Rather, it's my Grandmother's shortcake (with fresh summer berries from her garden) and biscuts slathered in butter and served with bacon and eggs...

...now THAT'S something to reminisce about!

Sure is ... 'cept ... what is butter? I still know what an egg is (hell, I have one every 3 months or so, so I know that one), but the butter thing kinda rings a bell ...

In my fridge at the mo': Real butter, turbinado sugar, 3 dz. grade AA extra large eggs, rack of pork spare ribs, 2 12 oz. KC Strip steaks, homemade pickles, a drawer full of fresh veggies, another drawer full of fruit...etc.

NOT on my menu: artifical anything.

IMO, a few sticks of butter aren't as bad for you as margarine. I try and avoid consuming chemicals as much as possible. For my daughter (9) we also buy hormone free meat and dairy.

EDIT: oh yeah - left out bacon and breakfast link sausage
